Diversity Concerns in Public Health
Understanding diverse people groups is important to effective public health practice. In the Diversity Concerns in Public Health assignment, you will analyze different people groups in regard to public health. This assignment is comprised of three major sections outlined below. Note: The page lengths for each section are recommendations, and your individual section lengths may vary as long as you meet the requisite total number of pages.
Diversity Overview (1 page).
Summarize the diversity issues in public health.
People Group Analysis (3 pages, approximately 1 page per people group).
Select three people groups from the following list for analysis. Note: You cannot select your own group.
Israeli, Latino, Jehovah Witness, Pakistani, Caucasian, Jewish, Filipino, Indonesian
For each people group:
Identify the cultural mores and analyze how they influence the effectiveness of public health practices.
Describe the historical factors and analyze the impact that has been made on public health.
Describe the current health status.
Identify and analyze a diversity theory that affects the group.
Use the theory as a lens and analyze the inequalities in public health group experiences.
Problem Analysis and Solution (4 pages, half of the total number of pages on the problem analysis and half on the solution).
Focus your analysis on one of the people groups that you described in the previous section.
Analyze one specific problem related to public health experienced by the people group.
Design a solution that fixes the problem.
Your paper should be 8 pages in length and contain at least 5 references.
