Hypothesis 3: People’s judgment of the credibility of a written article is influenced by the gender of the author
The objective of this proposal is to outline the problem statement and present a method of carrying out the research project. Broadly, my hypothesis lies under the subject of gender discrimination. However if we look into the matter closely, it is based on the psychological reactions of general public who tend to brand any form of writing with the gender of the author. Many people adopt a misogynistic line of thinking after reading articles written by authors who cannot be expected to write them. An online article tells about a female writer who was asked to stay in the kitchen as a reaction to her publication related to football (Romenesko). Hence, my research seeks to prove the credibility of this hypothesis. The psychological tool I am planning to use in my research is experimentation and data collection (Study.com). Firstly, I will search for articles with ‘contradictory’ authors. For example, I will look for cooking articles written by men or sports columns written by female authors. I will form a collection of such articles will later on help me in practical data sampling. Next, I will draft a short survey in which I will ask the reader to rate the article and guess the gender of the author. As far as my sampling methodology is concerned, I am planning to invite a group of keen readers in a seminar hall and ask them to read my collection. This group of readers will consist of individuals (both male and female) within the age bracket of 20 to 45 years. Without disclosing the gender of the author, I will pass on the survey. The result will help me in variance analysis, where I could differentiate between actual and expected results. I will tabulate the data and prepare graphical representation of my findings. I expect majority of the readers to mismatch the genders. Another vague approach in my mind is to interview a number of individuals (about 100) and find out their views about men writing feminine articles and vice versa. This seems less scientific and more prone to errors. However, both my approaches are simple and do not involve any legal or ethical violation.

I think that you are off to a good start! I like your idea of finding articles that do not have authors who conform to the stereotype one may have based on the subject-matter of the article (e.g., cooking, sports).
You will want to be careful regarding the length of the articles you use and the potential amount of time a participant may end up spending reading the articles. If participants are involved for longer than they might like, the data they may yield may be less than accurate. Perhaps, you could select a small number of (brief) articles that you randomly distribute (rather than having all participants read all articles). As gender is socially constructed, you could also find articles written by authors with androgynous names (e.g., Ryan) and ask if the assumed gender is male or female. I think these approaches might be less time consuming (for you) than one-on-one interviews.
I was curious how you plan to recruit your participants. You mentioned the use of “keen” readers being part of your research. My thought is that you want to find a sample that is representative of the general population. If you have a group of sophisticated readers, they may not yield results that would generalize to the more “typical” reader. Does this make sense? Just a note: you will want to avoid using the word “prove” (proved, proven) and rephrase as “find support for” the hypothesis.

Research Project, Step 5: Perform Statistical Tests
This activity will bring you from the raw data stage to the point where you have organized, summarized, displayed, and evaluated the results obtained in your research project. Your results need to be detailed, well-illustrated, and sufficiently comprehensive to cover most contingencies. The result will be the determination of whether your results are statistically accidental or not based on one of the statistical tests. Without this, your results are incomplete. As part of your report, you will indicate if further work is needed.
Approaching the statistical tests sometimes seems complex. Read “Cookbook Approach to Statistical Analysis” in the Study Guide for some insights on where to begin your analysis.

Research Project Report
The goal of this assignment is to guide you through to completion of the experimental design of your research project and to its implementation. In short, you should now finalize planning. Do it!
The completed Research Project Report must be presented in the proper format. Your report must be free of errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Handwritten reports will not be accepted.
As you finalize your report, be guided by the following list. Overall hint: Be practical!
State your conclusions in a way that relates your findings to your hypothesis.
Indicate other approaches you considered for your study.
Identify any confounded variables that may have limited the internal validity of your study.
Give your assessment of the likelihood that confounding actually occurred.
Consider contextual factors as well as ethical, logical, and cultural dimensions of the problem.
Identify the limits to the external validity of your experiment in regard to your subjects, operational definitions, and experimental situation.
Report any theoretical implications of your findings.
Evaluate your findings in terms of historical data, reasoning, and logic.
Note: Your experiment tested no formal theory, but you may be able to identify some testable predictions that follow logically from your conclusions. Let these predictions serve as theoretical implications.
Discuss whether your results can be generalized and to what population. Discuss their feasibility.
Report any practical implications or impacts of your findings.
Consider and discuss the need for further work on the topic.
