Requirements: 6 to 10 double spaced pages, not including title page and references. Minimum of 6 references are expected, through the 3 main sections of the paper. Purpose: Interpersonal communication is a unique form of human communication that is influenced by intrapersonal communication, communication with oneself. This assignment is an opportunity to explore in depth, how your intrapersonal communication impacts your interpersonal communication. There is a connection between one’s thoughts and one’s interpersonal communication with others. Intrapersonal communication include communication that encompasses self-talk and internal dialogue (Beebe, Beebe, Redmond & Geerinck, 2015). Healthy positive self-talk can have a reassuring effect on your self-worth and on your interactions with others. Your physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual self all affect intrapersonal communication (self-talk) and ultimately interpersonal communication (communication with others). Description: This assignment has three components. The first part of the assignment involves a self-reflective analysis using the medicine wheel to assess your physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual self. The second part of this assignment is to identify how your intrapersonal communication impacts your interpersonal communication, and the third past is your plan of how you will address and improve these identified areas. Given that intrapersonal communication influences interpersonal communication, it is necessary to understand that healthy interpersonal communication is a life-long endeavor that requires an ongoing commitment to self-reflection. • Use the medicine wheel as described by Mussell (2005) as your framework, make sure that you clearly delineate between the 4 aspects of self: physical, emotional, intellectual/mental, and spiritual.
