My Short-Term Career Plans and Long-Term Goals
My name is Faris Jaafar, a CSUN (California State University, Northridge) graduate with a GPA of 2.78 and a long-term career ambition of becoming a top private-sector leader and later on a government bureaucrat. At the university, I was majoring in business management. As part of my efforts to achieve this objective, I am applying for a Pepperdine University degree. My short-term goal is to join a supervisory/middle management team of a leading U.S. financial services firm. At this level, I would like to have the competency to lead teams of at least ten employees.
On the other hand, my medium-term goal to rise through the ranks to become one of the top executives of the firm. At this level, I aspire to lead thousands of employees in achieving ambitious organizational goals. Using my leadership skills, I will seek to bring about organizational transformation as a way of adapting favorably to future realities. By the time I take over senior leadership, I expect to play a vital role in helping the firm adapt its traditional culture in order to enter the next phase of growth.
After achieving this objective, I will join the public sector to work as a senior government bureaucrat. In this capacity, I will utilize my wealth of experience in the service of my country in the field of public finance where my expertise will be most needed. In this capacity, I will be in an excellent position to impact positively on my fellow citizens. The Pepperdine University degree will help me reach these long-term goals by providing me with a firm intellectual grounding, management expertise, and leadership skills that I will require to navigate both the private and public sectors.
