Introduction
Lucky Star is a Canadian based film and theatre arts organization founded by Susan Werth in 2007. The company started as a small office where film lovers could socialize and encourage one another to sharpen their skills in arts. The firm has experienced many transformations under Susan’s leadership and is now fully equipped for content and film creation. In 2010, Lucky Star was awarded for its outstanding performance during the Film and Cinema award.
Mission/Goals
The mission of Lucky Star is to encourage, cultivate, enlighten and promote art through education and cross-cultural awareness. We know that everyone deserves an opportunity to learn more about arts. Our organization as well believesthat film is a form of art, which serves the purpose of bridging cultures and illuminating human experience’s universality. Lucky Star prides in entertaining, initiating cultural dialogues and celebrating excellence in any given language. We strive to inspire creativity and empower people by giving them a chance to explore. To achieve our mission, Lucky Star encourages and develops all creative arts’ aspects around Canada through cinema experience. We also produce films, have unique, and panel showcases that promote Lucky Star as a center for cultural arts. Our doors are wide open to creators and film lovers of all ages to see, experience, learn cinema and film.
List of Actions to Achieve the Goals
We plan to achieve these goals by embracing some measures. The first step is reinforcing a corruption-free zone, which ensures that all are welcome in our firm. We intend to create more space within the organization to nurture talents and work on the improvement of those pursuing arts as a career. Another plan is to organize occasional community outreach programs where we shall highlight our activities to the community to enable them learn to appreciate arts and film.
Organization Structure
Lucky Star has a hierarchical organizational design structure. Susan Werth, the director who is followed closely by managers, namely, Steve Domes (Programming Coordinator, Mercy Joseph (Public Relations Manager), Joseph Madix (Communication and Development Manager), heads it. Other staff members consist of marketing and curative assistants, sale associate, and audience development assistant.
Personnel Roles and Responsibilities
Providing quality program requires coordinated and close cooperation of personnel in the organization. The director sees to it that she takes charge of the operational and strategic decisions related to any event in Lucky Star. The public relations manager is responsible for making sure that events promotion aligns with the company’s image and goals. The communication manager’s role is to establish proper communication strategies for promotion and advertisement. The success or failure of our company depends on its management. The entire staff works towards ensuring that Lucky Star meets its goals and objectives. The upcoming activity is significant for the organization; hence, everyone must do his or her best. We also have a work policy where people work in shifts to reduce workload related stress. This way, the organization maximizes its productivity. We award our staffs occasionally with movie tickets to allow them to relax and unwind.
Major Project: Lucky Star Weston Festival
Weston festival takes place annually with the intention of providing exciting opportunities to film lovers, actors, and actresses, filmmakers and directors. The Weston cinema is owned by our organization and is a vast space that can accommodate a crowd. It will be a one-week event with free entry. The festival also targets the public who are welcome to select a variety of movies, which they wish to watch. The occasion also focuses on anyone interested in displaying their talents so that they are enlightened on areas to improve. The organization and other shareholders such as the Canadian Association of Filmmakers and Producers usually sponsor the festival. Those who wish to perform must apply through our website where we notify them if they are selected or not. Lucky Star will promote the event through broadcast media and other social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and our YouTube channel.
Time Line
The festival is slated from March 18- 23rd. We shall, however require one week to prepare and advertise the event. Marketing and promotion will commence as from 10 March, followed by organizing for travel permits. The venue will be ready by 16th.
Roles of Personnel in the Project
Our director, Susan deals with the operational and strategic aspects of Lucky Star.
The curating assistant, James scholar, manages the gallery, information, applications as well as logistic issues. The sales associate will work towards ensuring that the organization meets the needs of customers and clients who come to inquire more about the organization. We also have a fantastic web designer famously known as the wizard, who takes charge of creating and updating our website to facilitate easy access. Our firm has many volunteers who through learning are helping us to improve our organization. We work as a team, and in that spirit, we have always succeeded in all activities.
