Reply to Jennifer’s Thread on How to Start a Job Interview with a Good Impression
I agree with the Jennifer’s arguments about having a mock interview before the actual interview and also stating one’s major achievements at the end of the interview in order to grab the panel’s attention. Upon completing education, we often start to apply for jobs befitting our qualifications. Prospective employers call us to an in- person interview to assess whether we are who we claim to be on paper. It is crucial not only to dazzle but also to leave a lasting impression on the interviewing panel (Singhal, 2013; Gladwell, 2005). This post is a reply to Jennifer’s arguments on how to start a job interview with a good impression.
Firstly, the post takes a likeable tone – casual yet subtly authoritative and informative. This makes it easy to relate with in addition to enhancing the ability by readers to comprehend the subject matter. Jennifer has also made good use of in-text citations, followed the proper APA format, and subsequently used good references too. Moreover, she uses impeccable grammar and vocabulary in addition to presenting a clear, coherent flow of ideas.
Respectfully, though, I would like to point out that the post could use a better introduction emphasizing the importance of a good first impression. This could be further elaborated by stating that people make a pretty accurate assessment of others after assessing them for only a few seconds (Lehman & DuFrene, 2015). Jennifer should also probably consider giving more tips on question-answering techniques and expounding more on non-verbal cues such as body language, sitting posture and facial expressions.
All in all, this is a very well written post that is sure to serve as a beneficial tool for anyone preparing for a job interview.
