Five Daily Prayers in Islam Called Salah
Light is dancing right inside words
One, two, three, four, five times everyday
Every step of the way
As I head towards the Mihrab
I get ready to recite a prayer
To recite your name
Facing Kiblah and keeping the faith,
I bow to Allah and pray to him
Five times everyday
I ask Him to forgive my sins
And guide me along the treacherous way
As I get ready to recite a prayer
I look forward to entering paradise some day
Salah is one of the five pillars of the Islam faith
The pillars that define the religion of Islam
It has been mentioned repeatedly in Quran
The importance of prayer
Is best described through Salah
As I get ready to recite a prayer
I trust in Allah
I pray in the Mosque five times everyday
I pray to please you Lord
As I walk towards the Mosque
I always remember to ask you
For the forgiveness of my sins
As I get ready to recite the prayer
I seek to stay away from sins
Each step I take towards the prayer
Helps me appreciate your blessings
I always adhere to the words of Quran
That require me to pray before death comes
I say my prayers even in times of challenges
And in better days as well
As I get ready to recite a prayer
I know Salah reigns above all else
I reflect upon Our Prophet’s words
About punishment that awaits all
Who miss a prayer here and there
Fifteen punishments
That’s the specifics from Our Prophet
Regarding the punishment
As I get ready to recite the prayer,
I understand Our Prophet’s Salah command
I begin my day with Fajr
And my face glows with joy
As the day drags on
I dare not miss the Salah of Zuhr
Missing Zuhr due to work
Will deny me access to wealthy blessings
As I get ready to recite the prayer,
I anticipate Lord’s blessings.
I observe Asr as well
Asr is the early afternoon prayer
I also observe Maghrib
To regain my strength
And thank the Lord for the day
As I get ready to recite the prayer
My heart overflows with thanksgiving.
I end my day with Ishaa
The last prayer of the day
I reflect on the peaceful day it has been
And look forward with prayerful anticipation
For a peaceful night
And an equally peaceful day ahead
As I get ready to recite Ishaa
As the next day dawns,
I set out to reach a new milestone
I may not have read Salah punctually yesterday
Today I want to be on time
All five times
As a bow down to recite the prayer
I am careful about punctuality
With each Salah recital
Comes the responsibility
To spread the word
To all Muslim brothers and sisters
Across the world
As bow down to recite the prayer
I know it intercedes for us all
Missing the prayers will bring loss
Upon the life of a Muslim
I will never miss the prayer
Disrespecting our Prophet
By not praying five times a day
Is a sin
Yet praying leads us to paradise
As I bow down to recite the prayer
I await entry into paradise
Failure to recite Salah leads one to hell
No one wants to end up in hell after death
It helps us all if we all read Salah diligently and punctually
For forgiveness, strength, blessings, prosperity and peace of mind
As I get ready to recite the prayer
I know that many rewards await those who recite Salah.
