Answer
Human Factors Training
Human factors training encompasses efforts to impart skills on how people aviation professionals should behave both physically and psychologically when engaging in work-related activities. In the recent past, many aviation accidents have been as a result of human error and oversight. In view of this situation, human factors training is essential as it will ensure that individual professionals are in a position to choose the right courses of action in order not to make errors. The training can also help them to get a better grasp of the aviation systems and technology used, to understand issues affecting job performance and to get insights into proper assignment of personnel in respect of their specific abilities. Whenever members of staff understand how different software, hardware and user interface components of a system operate, they will be better equipped to handle day-to-day operations, prevent accidents or incidents and effectively deal with emergencies whenever they occur.
In aviation, human factors training involves regular training of both in-flight and ground personnel to ensure they are familiar with any new technology that an company may adopt. Equally important, getting to know employees’ abilities, limitations, and social lives as part of this kind of training helps a company to understand better why people behave the way they do. Besides, it enables them to predict how particular members of staff will respond to or handle certain situations. A firm grasp of these issues can be achieved during training, and this greatly affects performance by enabling managers to assign responsibilities appropriately to individuals who are not just suited to them, but also, who have a passion in undertaking them. Such measures result in better concentration, increased levels of professionalism and ultimately, reduction and possible elimination of human errors in aviation.
